A century against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup ensured top position in the ICC ODI rankings for Virat Kohli who achieved his career best points of 881 - nine ahead of AB de Villiers. India just managed to retain the 2nd position with 113 points - one ahead of Asia Cup winners Sri Lanka.

Kohli has scored 1580 runs at an average of 60.76 in the last 12 months including six centuries [four away from home]. De Villiers, on the other hand, scored 1156 runs at an average of 52.54 with three centuries in the same period. India captain MS Dhoni and Shikhar Dhawan are also in the top ten in sixth and eighth respectively.

Lasith Malinga's fruitful Asia Cup series meant he jumped 11 places to 22nd position while India's Ravindra Jadeja moved four places up to fifth position to be India's only bowler in the top 10. Saeed Ajmal of Pakistan leads the bowlers' rankings with 789 points.

In team rankings, Afghanistan have managed to enter the list at 12th position behind Ireland.

They secured 32 points after the win over Bangladesh in Asia Cup having played 12 matches since August 2010 and winning one match against a full member and also having over 60 percent win percentage in all their matches against Associate members.

Australia are at the top of the rankings with 117 points, four ahead of world champions India, with Sri Lanka, South Africa and England not too far behind.
