The "Vampire Diaries" gang comes up with a plan to lure Katherine (Nina Dobrev) and force her out of Elena's (Nina Dobrev) body in order to bring back their friend. In Episode 15 titled "Gone Girl," fans will not be only saying goodbye the Petrova doppelganger but to the other TVD characters as well.

Spoiler Alert: This feature contains major spoilers on "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5, Episode 15 "Gone Girl." The episode begins with Nadia's (Olga Fonda) hallucination as a result of Tyler's werewolf bite and the Traveller went back to the year 1520 when she was searching for her mother, Katerina Petrova, in Northern Europe.

Katherine Pierce (Nina Dobrev) vows to take care of her daughter and even asked help from Dr Wes Maxfield (Rick Cosnett) who can create an antidote to Nadia's werewolf bite. What about asking Klaus' (Joseph Morgan) blood to cure Nadia? Katherine told Nadia that the Original hybrid will only gloat to see her daughter die and it will only expose her secret.

At the Salvatore mansion, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) finds out about Katherine's secret as well as the rest of the gang. "So, how do we kill the bitch?" Tyler asked and Stefan (Paul Wesley) revealed that using the Traveller's knife can expel Katherine from Elena's body.

However, Caroline (Candice Accola) pointed out that Katherine can always sense a sneaky attack so they must come up with plan that will get the Petrova doppelganger's guard down. Caroline tried by asking Elena's help in setting up a surprise party for Bonnie (Kat Graham) but Katherine declined with Aaron Whitmore's (Shaun Sipos) funeral as an excuse.

Elena received another phone call from Bonnie asking if they could spend some time together. "Why are they being so clingy today?" Katherine asked looking annoyed with Nadia getting suspicious.

Damon receives a phone call from Elena asking if they could talk, just a day later after the farmhouse attack, and he agreed by inviting her over to the mansion. It turns out the conversation was Katherine's test to find out if everyone already knows about her secret and she was right.

Katherine transferred Nadia to a church and revealed that the two of them will leave together once Dr Maxfield gave the cure. Stefan and Caroline discuss about the chances of not seeing Elena anymore if Katherine manages to run far away from them but the captive Damon suggested that a little locator spell can help them to solve their problem.

Bonnie and Jeremy (Steven R McQueen) approached Liv Parker (Penelope Mitchell) again to do a locator spell on Katherine. Liv agreed but Bonnie had to endure her flirting with Jeremy while they perform the witch spell.

It was Tyler's (Michael Trevino) turn to watch over Damon but the conversation between the two, particularly on Tyler's relationship with Caroline, led to Damon's successful escape in order to go after Dr Maxfield. Damon succeeded in killing Dr Maxfield without getting the cure for his thirst for vampire blood and Katherine arrived to see the doctor's dead body also without the cure for Nadia's werewolf bite.

Katherine got a phone call from Stefan informing her about Nadia being in the Salvatore mansion so she was given the choice to either run away or come to see her daughter one last time before she dies. Katherine chose to be with Nadia as the heartbreaking scene showed how the Petrova girls said goodbye to each other before Nadia moved to the "Other Side" through Bonnie as the Anchor.

Then, Katherine finally faced her enemies and asked which one of them will finally get to kill her with the Traveller's knife once and for all. It was none other than the love of her life, Stefan Salvatore.

Damon and Stefan had another brotherly talk while waiting for Elena to wake up. Tyler (Michael Trevino) and Caroline also had a talk about their relationship with the blonde vampire on an angry outburst claiming that she is done feeling guilty for having sex with Klaus.

Bonnie was at the church offering a candle for her father when Katherine showed up. However, the Petrova doppelganger told Bonnie another shocking secret that she did before she crosses over to the "Other Side."

Katherine revealed that Dr Maxfield had no intention of helping Nadia and only used the extracted werewolf venom to make the "Ripper" virus more lethal. Elena finally wakes up with Damon and Stefan around but was confused to find the syringe that Katherine injected in Elena's body with the enhanced "Ripper" virus in her jacket.

"I left Elena with a little bit of a parting gift," Katherine told Bonnie before getting over to the "Other Side." However, Katherine was not allowed to pass through and Bonnie revealed that she does not control it and it was not up to her on who can go to the "Other Side."

"Then who is it up to?" Katherine asked before the weather suddenly turned windy in the church. "I can't help you Katherine," Bonnie stated before the unseen force grabbed Katherine, dragged her on the church aisle and made her vanish in the dark.

Find out what will happen to Elena and where did Katherine go in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 when the hit TV series return with Episode 16 titled "While You Were Sleeping" on Thursday night, March 20, at 8 pm ET on the CW Network.
