HTC Announces Entry-Level Smartphone Desire 310 with Quad-Core CPU

Taiwanese smartphone maker, HTC on Thursday (6 March) announced an entry-level smartphone Desire 310.

"Everybody today wants a smartphone that can keep up with them, regardless of whether it is a flagship or entry-level model" said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation.

"The latest addition to our renowned HTC Desire range combines super-fast processing and premium features at a lower price, offering users the best possible experience in this category," he added

HTC Desire 310 sports 4.5-inch screen and is powered a by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor. It also boasts of 5.0-megapixel camera (no LED flash) and snapper on the front (probably a VGA camera).

Other key features like screen resolution, OS version, RAM, inbuilt storage, battery capacity of the phone has been kept in dark by the company, but by the looks of it, the new HTC phone is likely pack similar specifications as seen in the rival Motorola Moto G.

HTC's budget phone ships with BlinkFeed application, which helps the user get live news and relevant social updates (from Facebook, Twitter) right on the home screen and also boasts Offline Reading mode, wherein, users can mark articles (up to 20,000) from media portals and read later without using the internet.

The company has confirmed the phone will be initially released in the home market, Taiwan in April, however, the details of the device price and its availability in the other markets are kept under wraps. Considering the specifications of the phone, Desire 310 is likely to reach emerging markets like India, and other price-sensitive regions of Asia soon.
