2014 MTV Movie Awards: The Hunt for the Golden Popcorn Begins! Everything You Want to Know

With awards season over, the 2014 MTV Movie Awards kicks off the summer movies with a combination of fan favorite films and critically acclaimed award hits. Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf of Wall Street" and David O. Russell "American Hustle" are leading this year's MTV Movie Awards with eight nominations each.

Box office hit "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" follows closely behind with seven nominations, including Jennifer Lawrence for Best Female Performance. Other nominees for Best Picture includes Academy Awards winner "12 Years A Slave" by Steve McQueen and New Zealand movie "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" by Peter Jackson.

The 2014 MTV Movie Awards will be hosted by late-night talk show host Conan O'Brien. The annual movie awards will be broadcasted live on April 13 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, California. The complete list of nominees were announced at 7 A.M. on the morning of March 6 , voting are still going on for Best Picture of the Year.

"The Wolf of Wall Street" star Leonardo DiCaprio is leading with five nominations, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" star Jennifer Lawrence comes in second place with four nominations. Co-star Amy Adams, 2014 Oscars Best Actor winner Matthew McConaughey for "Dallas Buyers Club" and 'Were the Millers" star Jennifer Anniston comes on third with three nominations each.

Staying true to its pop-culture roots, the 2014 MTV Movie Awards features categories like Best-Scared-as-Shit Performance, Best Shirtless Performance, Best Musical Moment and the signature Best Kiss category. The music channel also features Best Cameo category and this year Robert De Niro is nominate for the category against funny duo Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, Kanye West, Joan Rivers and Rihanna.
