Leaders Chelsea will look to pile further misery on rock bottom Fulham when the two sides clash in the English Premier League.

Chelsea lead the Premier League by one point from Arsenal, who visit Stoke at the same time, and with Manchester City busy with the Capital One Cup final, Jose Mourinho will be keen to extend his lead at the top.

"We are playing consecutive matches and have no rest," said Mourinho, who is not too happy to play on Saturday just three days after a testing Champions League trip to Galatasaray. "When we played City [in the FA Cup] they didn't play in midweek, we had to go to West Brom.

"We haven't had easy matches. We went to City in the Cup, we went to West Brom, who needed points, and we played against Everton, one of the best teams. After that we went to Istanbul, which wasn't an easy game to play.

"We are in a difficult period but we haven't lost in the Premier League for a long time. We got an acceptable result in the Champions League and we lost in the FA Cup against the best team so, even in a difficult period, I don't think we are doing badly."

If any team is doing badly, it is indeed Fulham, who find themselves fighting for survival, and under a new manager still familiarising himself with the surroundings.

Felix Magath began his Fulham career with a 1-1 draw at West Brom, and the experienced manager will know if he can pull off a victory against West London rivals Chelsea at Craven Cottage it will provide his team with a humongous boost as they look to avoid being relegated from the Premier League.

Magath also hopes Chelsea's long trip to Istanbul will work in Fulham's favour. "Here in the Premier League you have great managers: Manuel Pellegrini, Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho," Magath said.

"Every team Mourinho's managed he's won a title. Maybe of the managers here Mourinho is the one who is a little bit similar to me. I hate to lose like him.

"We are lucky that Chelsea had such a long trip. I remember those situations you have to stay at the airport, fly a few hours, then you have the game at night, then the players cannot sleep as early.

'The next day you are tired and again have time at the airport, waiting for the plane. It bothers the players a lot, that's a chance for us."

Team news: Fulham: Magath is likely to leave record signing Kostas Mitroglou out of the squad, deeming the Greek international not fit enough for the trials and tribulations of the Premier League as yet.

"The most difficult thing is he is used to playing in a small league and playing for the best club," Magath said of the former Olympiakos man. "They were always the better team, always attacking. If you have a team playing more defensively, he is not used to this.

"The biggest problem for him is getting used to the higher level of the Premier League and then to the situation that he has to do defensive work that he was not asked to do before.

"He is fit enough to play half an hour but he is not fit enough to play 90 minutes at the moment," he said. "But he will develop. He was injured and so he needs some time and he has worked a lot for the last four weeks or so. He will be ready to join us next week."

Chelsea: David Luiz is again likely to miss out, while Mourinho is set to assess the rest of his players after that energy-sapping midweek trip. "We arrived back from Turkey at 6am in the morning yesterday [Thursday], we trained yesterday with four or five guys and the rest were doing some recovery, and we haven't trained today [Friday] yet so I don't know the squad yet," the Portuguese said.

Key men: Fulham: Lewis Holtby will need to be at his creative best, while also possibly chipping in with a goal for his side to have any chance against Chelsea.

Chelsea: Fernando Torres scored against Galatasaray, and if Mourinho gives the Spaniard a good run, goals might just flow.

Expected lineups: Fulham: Stekelenburg; Riether, Hangeland, Heitinga, Riise; Sidwell, Parker; Dejagah, Holtby, Richardson; Rodallega.

Chelsea: Cech; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta; Ramires, Matic; Willian, Hazard; Salah; Torres.

Prediction: 2-1 to Chelsea
