"Shaadi Ke Side Effects" starring Vidya Balan and Farhan Akhtar has started on a decent note on Friday, while Valentine's Day release "Gunday" finished its two week run.
"Shaadi Ke Side Effects" (SKSE) which opened to mostly positive reviews has registered around 30 percent occupancy in the morning shows across the country. [Check out the critics review here]
The occupancy of "SKSE" is comparatively better than previous releases like "Highway" and "Hasee Toh Phasee". "Gunday" was much higher due to Valentine's Day.
The film, which is a sequel to "Pyaar Ke Side Effects" is mostly targeted at multiplex audiences. The comedy film shows the issues and events that happen after marriage.
The film directed by Saket Chaudhary is expected to gain the momentum at the box office by the evening shows.
"The positive reviews and strong word of mouth are expected to lend a boost to its business. Also, with no major opposition to contend with, Shaadi Ke Side Eeffects is expected to dominate the marketplace this week," trade analyst Taran Adarsh said.
Meanwhile, "Gunday" starring Priyanka Chopra, Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Irrfan Khan has finished the two weeks run at the domestic box office.
In two weeks "Gunday" raked in ₹76.12 crore and has safely entered the "hit" zone.
"#Gunday [Week 2] Fri 2.03 cr, Sat 2.61 cr, Sun 3.51 cr, Mon 1.27 cr, Tue 1.14 cr, Wed 1.03 cr, Thu 1.45 cr. Grand total: c 76.12 cr nett," Adarsh tweeted.
The earnings of the film should go down this week since "SKSE" has hit the screens in India.
"Gunday" will not cross the ₹100 crore mark in India, but will settle with decent lifetime score of around ₹80 crore.
