Juande Ramos got the better of his former team in the first leg of their last 32 Europa League match, but Tottenham will be confident of overturning a 1-0 deficit when they host Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in their second leg tie at White Hart Lane.

Yevhen Konoplyanka fired the only goal of the game from the penalty spot in the first leg in Ukraine, with Roberto Soldado, bereft of confidence and those much-wanted scoring boots, missing a sitter which would have given Spurs at least a vital away goal.

Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood has backed his under-fire striker to get back into the groove starting with the second leg against Dnipro, where Tottenham must score to advance.

"Robbie knows his time's come," Sherwood said of the Spanish international striker on Wednesday. "Hopefully that will be tomorrow night and we see him hitting the back of the net.

"We know he's a top player or he would not be at the club. Now's the time for one to ricochet in off his backside and he'll be off on a run like [Emmanuel] Adebayor has since I came in. It would be handy to have the two of them scoring.

"I sat down with him this week and said, 'It will happen, it's a matter of time.'"

Spurs have struggled a little of late, going down to a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Norwich in the English Premier League last weekend. Veteran defender Michael Dawson hopes a return to the comforts of home will help the team to turnaround their fortunes.

"The first leg in Dnipro was a big disappointment and we wanted to go to Norwich and put that right," Dawson told the club's official website.

"We didn't do that, so we get another chance on Thursday back at the Lane, back in front of our fans and it's a big game.

"It's a competition we want to do well in so as disappointed as we are, we have to pick ourselves up. We know the fans will be right behind us and they deserve a big performance after the two defeats we've had.

"In football, you always get another chance and on Thursday, we've got that and then on Sunday at home to Cardiff. These are two huge games for us."

For Ramos it will be a matter of great pride if he can lead Dnipro past Spurs, with the Spaniard aware a single goal at White Hart Lane from the away side, will mean Tottenham will have to score at least three to go through.
