MWC 2014: Huawei Unveils Mid-Range 4G Smartphone Ascend G6

Chinese technology giant, Huawei has launched a mid-range 4G smartphone dubbed as Ascend G6 at the ongoing MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2014, Barcelona.

"HUAWEI Ascend G6 4G is a stylish, colorful, and lightning fast smartphone designed to break down barriers," said Richard Yu, CEO, Huawei Consumer Business Group.

"With its handy 4G LTE connectivity, easy-to-use interface and dynamic cameras offering a multitude of photographic opportunities, Huawei is delivering on our promise to 'Make it Possible' for more people around the world," he added.

The new mid-range Huawei smartphones sports 4.5-inch qHD (960x540p) display and runs on the Android operating system with custom Emotion UI v2.0. It is backed by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1GB RAM and a 2000 mAh battery.

Besides boasting of 4G-LTE (with 150mbps download speed) network support, another notable aspect of Ascend G6 is that it flaunts a feature-rich 5.0-megapixel camera with four plastic element lens, voice-activated hands-free 'Selfie' function and 88-degree wide-angle shooting capability. Whereas on the rear-side, it houses an  8.0-megapixel camera with 5 with five plastic element lens, AF, BSI, f/2.0 aperture and a Sony IMX134 sensor.

The company says the Ascend G6 (3G model) would be made available in Q1, 2014, while 4G variant around April 2014, with prices starting from €249 (around ₹21,240), reported AndroidOS.

Apart from Ascend G6, Huawei also unveiled a few devices - two tablets MediaPad X1, M1 and an fitness tracking accessory called as TalkBand B1.
