The last time the Reds played at Anfield, they carved apart Arsenal in some style, leading to suggestions this Liverpool side could very well challenge for the title with the top three.
Brendan Rodgers and co. are as confident as they come at the moment playing in front of their own fans, and Swansea will need some serious resisting powers to stop the wave of attacks which will no doubt come from minute one.
"Our approach is very aggressive," said Rodgers, ahead of facing his former team. "We go into every game, and in particular our home games, looking to own the pitch.
"It's our home ground. It's our changing rooms, it's our field and it's our supporters. So we have to play like we own it.
"That's always been the mantra here for many, many years. It's one that we go in thinking about ourselves. We respect the opponent that we play - every game at this level is tough. But we back ourselves now and we expect to win.
"I think it's dealing with that pressure, which has really helped. We've got good organisation. Everyone knows their function in the team and everyone is working tirelessly in order to achieve the results."
Liverpool are well placed to finish in the final Champions League place at the moment, but Rodgers will know the importance of three points on Sunday, after seeing Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City all picking up victories on Saturday.
"I think we have shown in our performance level that we are as good as any of the English sides this season," Rodgers added. "We just need to do it over the next 12 games and prove it on the field. If we do that it will take us to [the Champions League] level. It is a competition that this club has a wonderful history in. It's a level that we want to get back to.
"The first job is to consolidate our place in the top four. Once you're in there then you can look beyond that. Our ambitions are still further but we have to take it game by game.
"We just want to keep pushing. Over the course of these next 12 games, we will be prepared and ready to get maximum points. We know that will be difficult but we have real confidence at the moment in our game."
For Swansea, who lost 5-0 in their last fixture at Anfield, this game will provide an opportunity to try and increase the gap between themselves and the bottom three, with just four points separating them from third bottom Sunderland. Garry Monk's side were quite impressive against Napoli in the Europa League on Thursday, albeit without getting a goal, and the rookie manager will target a similar dominant performance against Liverpool, to stifle Rodgers' men from overwhelming them.
"It will be a very difficult game, but we will have a go," Monk, who took over from Michael Laudrup recently, said. "I said all along that the best bit is when people doubt you.
"Outside of Swansea, I think most people would have doubted we could get a result against Napoli. They played their strongest side and I can guarantee a lot of people would have thought they would wipe the floor with us, but we have proven people wrong.
"We could have put in ten performances like that but people would still doubt we could get a result against Liverpool. For a club like us, we have to continually try and prove ourselves. I said to the players that they are top players, who deserve to compete at this level on a regular basis. I have never doubted them and they shouldn't doubt themselves."
Team news: Liverpool: Glen Johnson is set to return to the lineup for the Reds after over a month out through injury, but Lucas Leiva, Mamadou Sakho, Jose Enrique and Sebastian Coates remain sidelined.
Swansea: Jonjo Shelvey and Michu could make a timely return for Monk, while Nathan Dyer and Pablo Hernandez are expected to shrug off knocks picked up in the Napoli game.
Key men: Liverpool: Luis Suarez has not scored in his last few games, and while the Uruguayan has been equally effective, the striker will be keen to get his name on the scoresheet.
Swansea: Jonjo Shelvey was the deciding factor on both sides of the field in the reverse fixture earlier this season, which ended 2-2, and the former Liverpool midfielder will hope to have a positive impact alone come Sunday.
Expected lineups: Liverpool: Mignolet; Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Flanagan; Coutinho, Gerrard, Allen; Sterling, Suarez, Sturridge.
Swansea: Vorm; Rangel, Flores, Williams, Davies; Britton, Canas; Dyer, Shelvey, Routledge; Bony.
Prediction: 4-0 to Liverpool
