World smartphone leader, Samsung has launched a new phablet Galaxy Mega Plus in China.

Samsung's new big-screen phone is touted to be an upgrade variant of 2013 model Galaxy Mega 5.8. It packs almost same specifications, except a bump in its processing power. It houses a 1.2GHz quad-core CPU, while the predecessor featured a dual-core chipset.

Stipulated specifications of Galaxy Mega Plus include 5.8-inch qHD (540x960p) TFT screen, 8GB inbuilt storage (with microSD card support), 8.0-megapixel main camera, 1.0-megapixel snapper on the front and a 2600 mAh battery.

The official Samsung website misses to specify a key RAM capacity feature, but according to GSMArena, the phablet will house 1.5 GB physical memory.

Though the new phone is bit of disappointment in terms of its hardware, Samsung has introduced some value-added features like multi-window options (to operate numerous applications at once), Pop-up play, Story Album, S  Translator and Group Play (he/she can share music, games, pictures, and other documents with friends) and more.

The Galaxy Mega Plus is said to be initially made available in China, but it is yet to be ascertained when the company plans to release the phone in other markets.
