S Pen features make Note 3 superior in terms of several exclusive apps, which can be used for editing, multimedia and even business. S Pen stylus is also an alternative controls for the display aside from touch to keep smudges away.
In terms of smooth performance, Samsung used Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor clocked at 2.3 GHz but backed up by 3 GB of RAM instead to bring quality multitasking speed. Also, more sensors are available in Note 3 such as barometer, temperature, gesture and humidity which you can't find on Lumia 1520.
For the camera, Note 3 isn't a complete loser with its 4K video recording over 1080@30 frames per second and better front-facing camera shooter of 2 MP with 1080p recording vs. 1.2 MP 720p video recording on Lumia 1520.
Galaxy Note 3 also delivers bigger internal storage of up to 64 GB which you can further expand using a 64 GB microSD card. In other factors, Galaxy Note 3 is cheaper, more compact and noticeable lighter than Lumia 1520.

Samsung also added Knox security suite and other media-related services on top of default Android ones. Owners can also customize the phablet by rooting it and then installing modified ROMs.
But Lumia 1520 offers premium technology such as in camera using Carl Zeiss optics and Optical Image Stabilization. Moreover, Windows Phone OS user interface brings fresher design compared to the old TouchWiz UI on Note 3. There are also several other things included on Lumia 1520 like PureView, Nokia Music, Nokia Drive and Microsoft Office support.
