"Orange is the New Black" has roped-in Lori Petty to guest star in the upcoming season 2, according to a TV Line report. She might be portraying the role of an inmate, just like the other popular orange jumpsuit women in this drama-comedy.

TV Line report, however, does not provide additional details about Petty's role and for how many episodes she will appear. The introduction of a new character makes sense, as the character of Alex Vause, portrayed by Laura Prepon, will appear in only four episodes in the new season. As reported earlier, Prepon has not signed on as a regular for Season 2. Vause's storyline will have an open-ending in the upcoming season. According to reports, Prepon is currently negotiating her contract for Season 3.

Petty's character might be flawed, as well, like the rest of the characters in "Orange is the New Black." Created by Jenji Kohan, this Netflix's original series is based on Piper Kerman's memoir of the same name.

"I don't set out to write heroes or anti-heroes. I write characters - flawed characters. It's not about stereotypes and labels," Kohan had said in October, as quoted by Rolling Stone.

"Orange is the New Black" recently wrapped-up its shooting for Season 2. The speculated premiere date for the new season is spring, 2014.  The new series promises to be more compelling than the first season.

Talking about the new season, Taylor Schilling, the actress who plays the principal role of suburbanite Piper Chapman, had said to Huffington Post that "all of the characters and all of the dynamics are just going deeper. It's just getting fuller and richer and to me, more compelling."

In the first season of "Orange is the New Black," the focus was completely on Schilling's character. It will be a different story in Season 2, as Kohan has adopted an ensemble story-line approach.
