"Pretty Little Liars" season 4B winter premiere is not far, but it still feels far away.  However, we have the official synopsis for season 4 episode 16, "Close Encounters," to make things interesting. It has been released and gives an exciting look at what we should expect when the show returns.

The synopsis of "Pretty Little Liars" season 4 episode 16, which is set to air on January 21, 2014.

"Shana returns to Ravenswood to tell Emily that she has a message from Ali, but can Emily and the girls trust Shana with all that they know about her? And when Shana ups the stakes and says that Ali wants to meet Emily - and only Emily - could it all be part of an "A" plan, or is Emily really Alison's favorite? With Emily becoming more hopeful by the minute, Spencer is determined to not let her friend get hurt. Meanwhile, Aria and Hanna deal with matters of the heart."

Wow, a lot of juice here for us to process. "Shana returns to Ravenswood to tell Emily that she has a message from Ali." Does that mean she is aware of the truth or maybe she comes to know in the upcoming episodes? Perhaps, Jenna also knows about it. What about Mona, Wren and Melissa?

Alison and Emily drama will also be interesting to watch. Ali's return would certainly impact Emily in a big way, because she is in love with her. "Pretty Little Liars" is exploring their relationship in a great way. It will be exciting to see some twists and turns in their complex relationship.

"Meanwhile, Aria and Hanna deal with matters of the heart."

If Aria is dealing with such matters, is she suspecting Ezra's intentions? Well, this can also be related to Jake.

"Pretty Little Liars" season 4 episode 16, "Close Encounters" airs on January 21, 2014 on ABC Family.
