The Boston Red Sox will not trade John Lackey despite the latest trade rumours involving the World Series-winning hurler, a source close to situation reported on Monday.
Lackey, who went 10-13 with a 3.52 ERA and 161 strikeouts last season, will continue to pitch at Fenway Park as the Red Sox looks determined to keep their pitching crew intact for another run at the big prize.
Another reason why the Red Sox won't trade Lackey anytime soon is his team-friendly contract with a $15.25 million outlay and a team option valued at 500,000 in 2015.
Lackey started four games in the postseason, allowing eight earned runs with a 2.77 ERA and 25 strikeouts.
