Honda Accord Hybrid is reportedly set to make its entry into the Indian car market in 2014, according to the latest reports.

The Accord Hybrid, which is already available in international markets like North America, will now head to India next year. And considering Honda's previous experience with the Civic Hybrid (2008), the upcoming Accord Hybrid is likely to be priced carefully and placed strategically in the sub-continent market.

The Civic Hybrid had bombed in the domestic market, mainly due to its high price tag. And though the company tried to overcome the initial hiccups by bringing down the price of the vehicle in the Indian market later in the year, the effort was not fruitful.

Now when the Accord Hybrid is getting ready to steer into the market, Honda seems to be confident of getting a good response. According to a Zee News report, the new Accord Hybrid will be assembled locally in India.

The Accord Hybrid promises best fuel efficiency and comes equipped with luxurious features. Globally, the Accord Hybrid is marketed with a 2-litre petrol engine and a 164 bhp AC Synchronous electric motor under the hood which generates a combined power of 194 bhp.

Earlier last week, Honda India announced the plan to phase out its current Accord model. The weak sales of the Accord forced Honda to discontinue its production in the Indian auto market. The Accord, which has been on Indian roads since 2008, could touch only 11,492 unit sales figure in the country in total. In the current fiscal year, Honda marketed just 272 units of the vehicle.
