Tessanne Chin returned to her hometown in Jamaica to celebrate her victory as "The Voice" Season 5 winner. The 28-year-old powerhouse vocalist will be spending a two-week break in her hometown before heading back to the U.S. with her new recording album, promos and guest appearances.
"In less than two weeks she will return to the U.S. to participate in the Rose Bowl Parade on New Year's Day. Then, she will start working on her album which she said she hopes will be ready around March next year," the Jamaica Observer reported.
Family, friends and fans warmly welcomed the Jamaican songstress when she arrived in Kingston via Digicel jet on Dec. 20, Friday afternoon while holding "The Voice" trophy.
The very supportive husband Michael Cuffe, dad Richard Chin, sister Tami Chynn and Tami's husband Wayne Marshall were present to welcome home the Jamaican champion. As the huge crowd of fans cheered her on, Tessanne Chin thanked everyone for the support she received and even joked that she now wants to receive a Grammy award to compliment her winning trophy on "The Voice."
She is now getting recognized for her accomplishment as a music artist. "It is remarkable how the Diaspora was able to come together as an organized group for our beloved daughter of the soil, Tessanne Chin," Karlene Largie, the president of the Union of Jamaican Alumni Associations in New York City, said on Friday.
"It is not only a compliment to Tessanne, who represented her gender, her family and her country in a gracious, humble, honest, and talented manner, but to you and me and all the Jamaica Diasporans across the globe. So, you see, when we put our minds to it, we can do it. And we showed the world that we can be 'out of many, one people'," Largie added.
2014 will be a busy year for Tessanne Chin with the release of her new album, promotional runs, guest appearances and honorary awards. According to the Global News report, she will be honored at the University of the West Indies Fifth Annual Toronto Benefit Gala, together with reggae star Jimmy Cliff and celebrity chef Roger Mooking.
The event is set to give tribute to the leaders of Caribbean and Canadian heritage on March 29, 2014 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Tessanne Chin's broadcaster father-in-law, Michael Anthony Cuffe Sr., will be the host of the upcoming Toronto gala.
