When Beyonce dropped her new visual album some time back, there were comparisons that she is aping Madonna by shedding off her clothes and posing provocatively in the music videos. The 33-year-old has confirmed the rumors in her latest interview and said that she does actually wants to be like Madonna.

Beyonce has revealed that her new self-titled album was inspired by the "Like a Virgin" singer and she wants to follow the footsteps of Madonna. "I felt like I wanted follow in the footsteps of Madonna and be a powerhouse and have my own empire," said Beyonce to her fans on Saturday at special screening of her new music videos in New York City.

"And show other women when you get to this point in your career, you don't have to go sign with someone else and share your money and your success, you can do it yourself," added Beyonce.

Beyonce and Madonna share a special bond and the two are in the mode of praising each other. Madonna recently addressed Beyoncé as "Queen" at her "The Mrs Carter Show World Tour" at the Barclays Center in New York on Thursday! Beyonce in turn kissed Madonna's eight-year-old adopted Mercy James and the two looked cute together. See the picture here, which Madonna posted on her Instagram account saying, "Mercy James gets a big fat one from the Queen. B!"

"Mrs. Carter crushes the BK with her bad ass show! Girls run the world! #srtforfreedom," Madonna posted another picture of Queen Bey on Instagram praising her.

Beyonce's witnessed phenomenal success because of the surprise album she dropped some time back and her album sales have been sky high ever since. The singer herself acknowledges that she has put in all her knowledge and experience of 17 years in the album.

"I took all of my insecurities, all of my doubts, all of my fears and everything I've learned over the 17 years and I applied it into this project," said Beyonce to Fox News earlier.

"But more than the music -- I'm proud of myself as a woman ... the biggest message is owning your imperfections and all the things that make you interesting, because I refuse to allow someone to put me in anyone's box," added the singer.
