"Supernatural" Season 9 introduced fallen angel Ezekiel that actor Tahmoh Penikett portrayed. The "Battlestar Galactica" star has been missing in action ever since he possessed the body of Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) in order to heal and save him, but executive producer Jeremy Carver teases that fans can see Mr Penikett again as Gadreel instead of Ezekiel.

"There are lots of different ways, shapes and forms people can appear on the show. Past, present... People shouldn't rush to any one conclusion. Just know there are a lot of different ways he could appear," Mr Carver hinted in the TV Line report.

The promo video for upcoming Episode 10 titled "Road Trip" has shown fallen angel Gadreel as a villain possessing Sam Winchester's body after lying to Dean (Jensen Ackles) that he is the noble warrior angel Zeke. It is expected to be an interesting second half for "Supernatural" Season 9 with Tahmoh Penikett returning to portray Metatron's right hand.

Jeremy Carver further previewed in the Entertainment Weekly report what fans can expect when the CW TV series return in 2014. "We've got Sam who's being possessed and essentially taken over by Gadreel, an angel who's done this horrible thing. And we're going to reveal that Gadreel is more complex than we even may have presented him now.... I think we're going to see Gadreel put through his pieces a bit more by Metatron in terms of going down a dark path," the executive producer shared.

Additionally, Kevin's (Osric Chau) death will have an effect to the story as it moves forward especially with Dean Winchester. According to Mr Carver, Dean will have no one but himself to blame for what happened to Kevin.

"And as we know, Dean's go-to is blaming himself anyway. And the fact that he's right this time, hits him hard," Jeremy Carver stated. When it comes to his brother, Sam, Dean will still do whatever it takes to help and save Sam by ejecting the angel who fully took over his body.

Mr Carver teased: "And that's going to lead him to making alliances that he never thought he'd be forced to make. But he'll do anything, basically, to try to right what he, I guess, considers one of the biggest mistakes he's ever made."

The executive producer further previewed that "some people we absolutely did not expect to see" will be making a return in Season 9. "It's all a result of the events that have happened here in the last season and a half. I think we can say these people are beloved, yes. And I think it makes for some pretty strong stuff," Mr Carver stated.

"Supernatural" Season 9 returns with brand new episodes on Tuesday, January 14, at 9:00 p.m. ET on the CW network.
