20 Samsung Galaxy Devices Listed for Android 4.4 KitKat 2014 Upgrade Plans

Samsung has finally rolled out the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for Galaxy S4, S3 and Note 2, which is not the latest Android version making owners ask, "where 'KitKat' is."

Here are 20 prospective Galaxy devices getting Android 4.4 backed by sources and what features you should expect next year:

Firsthand Recipients

Samsung will update first the latest device to Android 4.4 KitKat. Currently, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 are the hottest in the kitchen. According to a leaked document, S4 and Note 3 are set to receive updates in January 2014 and will be followed by the second batch by March or April next year.

Second Batch Devices

Since Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 kept their intense heat even as yesteryear flagship devices, Samsung decided to include both to their future upgrade plans. After the January update for Galaxy S4 and Note 3, owners of S3 and Note 2 can get their Android 4.4 KitKat starting from March to April 2014.

In-Between Devices

Mid-range and low-cost Galaxy devices are also included to the upgrade plans of Samsung but the company hasn't confirmed if it is going to happen next year with Android 4.4 KitKat update. Galaxy Ace 2 and 3, Galaxy S4 and S3 Minis, Galaxy S Advance, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Fame and Galaxy Fresh made it to the list. Galaxy Core has two other variants known as Core Plus and Core Advance, which may be included and the Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade plans for mid-range Galaxy smartphones in 2014.

Mega And Round

An internal Knox report hinted the upgrade plans for Galaxy Mega with Android 4.4 KitKat that will feature Samsung's Knox Security Suite. However, the document didn't exactly specified which size of Galaxy Mega getting the security application that could also mean as a general approach talking about both 5.8 and 6.3 variants.

Another possible recipient is the curved Galaxy Round smartphone running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS. It is expected to get an Android 4.4 KitKat as a new device but may not follow the timeframe for other devices.

Tablets And Larger Notes

Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 and 8.0 deserves to get Android 4.4 KitKat in 2014 based on the 18-month window period. At the same time, Galaxy Note 8.0 and 10.1 should also get a firmware upgrade next year for fresher exclusive apps and functionalities mostly used by professionals.

Iconic design of Samsung flagship smartphones, Galaxy Grand 1 and 2, are also within the 18-month period to receive Android 4.4 KitKat. Both 5-inch smartphones run Android Jelly Bean making them hardware-ready for the newest Android version.

For the newest member Galaxy J has been confirmed with an Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade option for the smartphone. Owners in Taiwan should check its built-in software updater for the latest OS version.
