Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer "Dhoom 3" is all set for a massive opening at the worldwide box offices on Friday (20 December).

The advance booking of the action thriller, which started from Monday, has received a phenomenal response at the ticket window.

"Dhoom 3", the last big film of the year, is the third installment flick of one of the most successful franchises -  "Dhoom". The trailer and songs have already created huge craze and curiosity among the audiences, which can be seen from the advance booking occupancy.

The pre-booking tickets status of "Dhoom 3" is much better than "Ek Tha Tiger," which holds the record for the highest online tickets pre-booking.

The marketing strategy of the production house has also worked positively for the film.

The film will surely breaks some records on the opening day, as it has all the elements in its favour. Additionally "Dhoom 3" will benefit from a solo release in Indian markets. The screen count at domestic box office is more than 4500, which is the highest ever recorded, and overseas is over 700.

Since the film is releasing before Christmas and New Year, the film has an advantage to rake in cash during the holidays. The film is not facing any competition from previous releases, as last week's films have already been washed out of the theaters.

The first day earnings of the film would be lower as it is releasing on non-holiday Friday, but it is expected to rock the box office over the weekend. It is also expected to perform well during the weekdays due to Christmas holidays.

Also, one cannot sideline the fact that Aamir's previous Christmas releases have created box office records. "Ghajini", which was the first to start the ₹100 crore club, was released on 24 December. "3 Idiots" was also released during the festive season. The film crossed the double century mark in Indian markets and became the highest grosser film in Indian cinema, until the release of "Chennai Express" this year.

Now, it remains to be seen whether the film will set another record and turn out to be the biggest hit of the year.

"Dhoom 3" also features Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra and Jackie Shroff in important roles. Produced under Yash Raj Films banner, the film has been directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, who is the writer of the first two films.
