Caretaker manager Tim Sherwood will look to banish the doom and gloom at White Hart Lane by masterminding a Tottenham victory over West Ham in the Capital One Cup quarterfinals on Wednesday night.
Spurs are without a permanent manager at the moment having let go of Andre Villas-Boas following the 5-0 mauling handed out to the North London club by Liverpool on Sunday.
Sherwood, who was overseeing the Academy at Spurs, has been given the reins temporarily and the former Tottenham skipper will be determined to get his side back to winning ways when West Ham, the side that beat Spurs 3-0 earlier in the Premier League, come to visit.
"When you lose your manager it's a change and you've got to listen to a different voice, but I'm hoping to get a few messages across in a short space of time so we can get a positive result against West Ham," Sherwood told Spurs TV.
"It's a huge game, especially on the back of what they did to us at the Lane. It was disappointing. We have to get out there on the front foot and we have to impose ourselves on them as soon as we can during the game."
Allardyce insisted he is not going to take Spurs for granted, despite the turmoil surrounding the North London club at the moment. "Whatever the situation is at Spurs from our point of view you look at the squad of players they've got and they have an excellent squad," he said. "They had a very, very poor result against Liverpool and that ultimately resulted in them removing Andre Villas-Boas which was a surprise to me.
"From our point of view it's about the same players that we all know about. We all know the quality of the team and the quality of their squad. Whatever team they turn out against us on Wednesday night is always going to be an exceptionally difficult game for us.
"We had one of the games of the season, or for us the game of the season against them last time. That doesn't mean to say it's going to be any easier now there's been a change, it may be more difficult.
"I have enough of my own problems with injuries and suspensions with games coming up rapidly to have too much concern about Tottenham other than what team I'm going to play, how we're going to play and what we can do to combat them and get through to the semifinals."
The 3-0 win by West Ham in October is seen as one of the reasons for Villas-Boas losing his job, and manager Sam Allardyce will have no hesitation in aiming for another rout, if possible, against a side seriously bereft of confidence at the moment.
It is not like West Ham are doing too great at the moment, however, with the London side just a point off the relegation places in the Premier League. That is a situation that Sherwood hopes will work in Tottenham's favour.
"Hopefully they've got their concentration on Premier League safety rather than the cup tomorrow night," he added. "We have to be patient. They got bodies behind the ball and tried to catch us on the counter-attack.
"We're aware of that. Let's just hope we can impose ourselves on them nice and early, get the crowd behind us and really be up and at them."
Team news: Tottenham: Sherwood has a bit of a defensive crisis with Michael Dawson suspended, while Jan Vertonghen is ruled out through injury. Younes Kaboul is also a major doubt, but Vlad Chiriches could make a return. Danny Rose and Christian Eriksen remain sidelined, with Paulinho, after picking up a red card against Liverpool, suspended.
West Ham: Kevin Nolan, who is suspended, joins a heavy list of absentees that include Stewart Downing, Andy Carroll, Winston Reid and Ricardo Vaz Te. James Tomkins is also a major doubt after the recurrence of a groin injury.
