Japanese auto maker Honda revealed that the upcoming 2014 Honda City diesel will give a fuel efficiency of 26 kmpl, which is greater than its Honda Amaze diesel.

Honda Amaze is currently the market leader in India, in terms of the mileage - 25.8 kmpl.

2014 Honda City has been one of the most desirable cars in the Indian auto market and received global unveiling in the country's capital last month. The vehicle will hit the domestic auto market in January.

What has been exciting the auto aficionados is that the company is offering the City sedan in both petrol and diesel engine options for the first time in the Indian auto market. The Japanese auto maker did not divulge much details of the new City, but that did not stop the City lovers from drooling over the car. Now it is time for the auto-freaks to get their head out of the cloud and see what Honda is offering in the fourth Generation City.

The 2014 City follows Honda's new design philosophy - "EXCITING H DESIGN!!!" and is based on the 2014 Jazz/Fit. On the mechanical front, the petrol version of the City sedan packs a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine which churns out a power of 119 PS @ 6600 rpm and 145 Nm torque @ 4600 rpm. The diesel variant draws its power from the 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine, which is also used in the Honda Amaze. It is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and pumps in 100 PS power @ 3600 rpm and 200 Nm torque @ 1750 rpm.

The petrol model of City will come in two variants- 5-speed manual and automatic. The manual variant claims a mileage of 17.8 kmpl while the automatic would offer 17.9 kmpl. 2014 City petrol automatic variant gets CVT gearbox, which is engineered for more fuel efficiency, reported Rushlane.

As far as the dimension is concerned, the length of the new City is same as its current City model, but its wheelbase has been increased by 50mm. Also, the leg room and height have been raised by 60mm and 10mm, respectively. According to IndianAutos Blog report, the top end model of the City would come with dual front airbags, ABS and EBD beside the ACE (Advanced Compatible Engineering) body shell.

Inside the cabin, the car boasts of a new touch screen infotainment system with Bluetooth telephone connectivity and USB/Bluetooth and rear-parking camera support, steering mounted audio controls, sun roof, touch-screen AC panel, start/stop function, rear AC vents, eight speakers, four charging points, and cruise control.

Honda is expected to price its new offering aggressively in Indian market as the competition in the sedan segment is high. The car will take on Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Polo and Skoda Rapid.
