Samsung Galaxy S5 release date is speculated to happen at Mobile World Congress next year equipped with top of the line specs and features.

ZDNet Korea cited an insider confirming that Samsung are already developing features for its upcoming smartphones such as qHD screen displays with 2,560 x 1,440 pixel resolution and eye scanner. Although the publication did not specifically pointed out Samsung Galaxy S5 as the smartphone to pack its features, it is quite obvious that the upcoming Samsung flagship phone will sport the said features.

It has been rumoured that Samsung Galaxy S5 will make a jump itself to 2K screen resolution next year before releasing 4K displays in 2015. In addition, grapevine also said that Samsung Galaxy S5 will have the futuristic iris scanner replacing the fingerprint scanner for the added security in the device.

The insider also claimed that Samsung is working on a different operating system - Tizen OS. Many waiting fans will probably be disappointed that Samsung Galaxy S5 will not be an Android smartphone after all packing the latest Android 4.4 Kitkat OS. This is confirmed by Samsung's Chief Secretary Wonsuk Lee who said that Samsung is working on its relationship with the makers of Tizen OS and Firefox OS.

Lastly, Samsung Galaxy S5 may come in two variants. Like the two iPhone released last Sept, Samsung Galaxy S5 may unveil a plastic and metal models early next year. Samsung finally embraced metallic casing when it released the Samsung Galaxy J in Taiwan last week boasting a sleek and sophisticated metal body. Moreover, it is suggested that will receive initial shipments of 10 to 30 million metal casings from Taiwanese supplier Catcher Technologies, which produced the iPad metal casing.

Other rumoured features of Samsung Galaxy S5 are 14nm 64-bit Exynos 6 CPU and 16MP ISOCELL camera as well as 4,000 mAh battery life.

Some Samsung Galaxy handsets, like the Galaxy S2, were announced at MWC. However, Samsung changed its course when it announced the Galaxy S3 and S4 and have its dedicated events after the annual event. MWC 2014 will be held in Barcelona between Feb 24 and 27.
