Pokemon X and Y will launch the most anticipated Pokemon Bank and Poke Teleporter in the Nintendo 3DS shop on Dec. 27. Uusers are required to have an Internet connection to use the Bank, which will allow them to store up to 3,000 Pokemon over 100 boxes in a cloud-based storage file. Meanwhile, the Teleporter will let users bring their old Pokemon from previous versions of the game, Black and White and Black 2 and White 2.
Players can even go further back in the catalogue to transfer Pokemon from Pearl and Diamond, and SoulSilver and HeartGold to the Black and White games so they will be teleported to X and Y. This is because the older Pokemon installments are not compatible with the new one.
From Dec. 27 to Jan. 31, 2014, the Pokemon Bank will offer a free 30 day trial and after that it will cost $4.99 a year. It is still unclear what will happen in the event that a user fails to pay the subscription, but it is speculated that the account will be suspended and data will be held for a period until such time the user pays and it can be restored. The Poke Transporter on the other hand is a free app that will be available in the 3DS eShop as well. This app will only work with the Pokemon Bank, though.
The Teleporter app will be the connection between old and new games. Once a character is moved from the DS games to the X and Y, it is final because there is no trading back to the old games.
