Inter's Guarin is another name on Moyes' transfer list, reports suggest. (Reuters)
Inter Milan are keen to use Manchester United's interest in midfielder Fredy Guarin to attempt to prise Javier Hernandez away from Old Trafford, reports suggest.
David Moyes' attempts to add midfielders to his squad have been well documented following a summer transfer window where the club missed out on a number of targets, including Cesc Fabregas and Ander Herrera.
The United manager was in attendance during Atletico Madrid's 2-0 win over Porto with a number of players thought to be the subject of his attention ahead of the January transfer window, including Atletico's 21-year-old midfielder Koke and Porto duo Fernando and Eliaquim Mangala.
With midfield additions a desperate priority, United are also understood to be considering a number of other options including Inter's Guarin. The Daily Telegraph report the Serie A club have been informed of United's growing interest and will attempt to exploit it in an attempt to lure Hernandez to the San Siro.
Having started just three Premier League games this season having again being placed behind Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie in the striking pecking order, the Mexican international's future at the club has come under scrutiny again.
Having made 13 appearances in all competitions with both Rooney and Van Persie missing games this season, Hernandez has struggled to truly impose himself on the first team, although a late winner against Norwich and a winning goal against Liverpool in the Capital One Cup went some way in underlining his value to the club.
The striker did voice his concern with his peripheral role at the club earlier this season, suggesting he is happy to continue fighting for his place but may have to leave the club in order to find first team opportunities.
After finish in a disappointing ninth last campaign, Inter sit in a respectable fourth heading into the penultimate round of fixtures before Italy's winter break. But head coach Walter Mazzarri is keen to recruit a proven goal scorer with Rodrigo Palacio the only forward at the club finding his scoring touch this season with nine goals.
Moyes is likely to be reluctant to weaken his attacking options during the January transfer window, however, given United's need to catch up on those teams above them in the New Year.
