Borussia Dortmund will target second place when they host Bayer Leverkusen, one of only two teams above them in the standings.

Dortmund are still finding their way around the disappointment of losing to leaders and champions Bayern Munich, with a 3-1 victory at Mainz last weekend keeping them seven points behind Pep Guardiola's men.

However, the result of that loss to Bayern was also seeing Leverkusen steal a march on them and zoom up to second, where they currently stay perched, three points ahead of their opponents on Saturday.

A victory for Dortmund will see them just edge the standings to second on goal difference from Leverkusen.

Dortmund are coming off the back of a 2-0 victory over Saarbrucken in the DFB Pokal, the German Cup, in midweek, where they enjoyed an amazing 84 percent possession, a record for the club.

"An upset was never on the cards. We played a great game even if it only finished 2-0," Klopp said after the victory. "Our finishing could have been a bit better but everything else was perfect. It was fun to watch. The lads with little match experience played a fantastic game:  Jonas Hofmann, Julian Schieber, and Oli Kirch was the outstanding player. This was really good! It looked fluid despite little playing time."

Klopp was quite pleased with that effort from his side, but will obviously expect a much tougher test against Leverkusen.

"We have to make it very clear from the very first second that we want to win this game at all costs," Klopp said. "They haven't been dominating every game from start to finish, [but 34 points from 42] is quite a return. Leverkusen are a top-drawer side."

Leverkusen manager Sami Hyypia was talking like a young player himself when describing the upcoming match at the Westfalenstadion. "[This is] a duel that any footballer would savour," he said. "If everyone performs to his potential and we function as a team, we'll take something away from Dortmund.

"I don't think we need any added motivation for this one, everyone knows how important it is. We're looking forward to playing Dortmund in front of that huge crowd. We're ahead of them in the table at the moment and we want things to stay that way come the final whistle."

The crucial aspect could be Dortmund's form at home, which had been perfect prior to that defeat to Bayern, with Leverkusen's two defeats in the Bundesliga this season coming in away games.

Team news: Dortmund remain without defensive trio Mats Hummels, Neven Subotic and Marcel Schmelzer, with midfielder Ilkay Gundogan also missing out.

Leverkusen is expected to be without the services of Sebastian Boenisch.
