Game of Thrones Season 4 is all set to premiere on 31 March, 2014. Fans of the show are sure to rejoice knowing that soon the popular drama will be back with new twists and more jaw-dropping moments.

Speaking of which, the Purple Wedding episode has generated enough curiosity among fans after revelations by the makers that it is going to be "spectacular". HBO’s Making of the Game of Thrones website has a blog post outlining details about the forthcoming Purple Wedding. Writer Cat Taylor says that the Purple Wedding is one of the biggest scenes they have filmed since the premiere season.

Here is a roundup of the production updates of The Purple Wedding between King Joffrey and Margaery Tyrell:

Not all are pleased with the union of King Joffrey of the House Baratheon and Margarey Tyrell of House Tyrell. What is in store for the happy couple as the realm is facing war on all sides?

The wedding ceremony was filmed in a semi-permanent set in Belfast, the Sept of Baelor. The reception was filmed in an outdoor set in Parc Gradac in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Deb Riley, the production designer and her team were involved in transforming the garden into a set befitting a royal wedding in the Game of Thrones.

The wedding, filmed over five days, was attended by over 218 guests, apart from the main cast of the Game of Thrones. Some of the guests travelled from different parts of Europe and some came from as far away as America to be a part of the shoot.

Predictions of strong rainfall threatened to play spoilsport for the shooting of the episode during the scheduled days. Water funnels had been formed off the sea coast with a possibility of a rain storm hitting the show set.

The Red Wedding episode in Season 3 of the Game of Thrones reportedly sent a chill down the spine of viewers. After the events of the Red Wedding, fans are waiting with bated breath for another wedding in the Game of Thrones Season 4. It is a joyous occasion for the Lannisters as they celebrate not just the wedding but also the defeat of Stannis Baratheon and the death of Robb Stark.

With Tyrion Lannister as the new Master of Coin, how will he manage to pay for the extravagant royal wedding? Season 4 will reveal how he finds an innovative way to raise money for the royal wedding and steady the finances of the House.
