Android v4.4.1 KitKat Update Rolled Out to Nexus 5, Nexus 4, Nexus 7 (2013): Report

Google has officially begun the roll out of the anticipated v4.4.1 KitKat update to Nexus 5, as well as to Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 (2013: LTE model) devices.

"HDR+ lets you to take great shots in challenging environments, and all of this gets a boost with an update to Android 4.4.1 rolling out today to Nexus 5", said the Android team on its official Google+ page.

The new v4.4.1 KitKat software with build number KOT49E is being released via OTA (Over-The-Air). The update is said to fix glitches in camera, mainly the inconsistent auto-focus feature, slow capture speed and also boost HDR+ (High Dynamic Range) feature during low-light conditions.

Other improvements brought in by the update are yet to be officially announced. As per reports, the new software is expected to enhance the interface, provide better exposure, white balance, more contrast and vibrant colours on photos.

The v4.4.1 KitKat is also being seeded to other Google affiliated models - Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 (2013-LTE model), reported Android Central. The firmware is expected to enhance camera features, performance and speed up battery charging time and other minor improvements.

As the update is being rolled out in phases, Nexus device owners in some regions are expected to exercise some patience.
