Commuter journeys hit by tidal surge on Thursday PIC: Reuters

Widespread disruption is hitting air, sea and rail services as the tidal surge brings some ot the worst conditions seen for years.

High winds and dangerous waters are hitting services far and wide. Delays for passengers range from 20 minutes to more than an hour.

Below are the affected trains and ferry services in England, as well as airports To find how your journey is affected, contact the operator.

Trains:

Northern Rail

Hull Trains

South West Trains

Southeastern

Great Anglia

London Midland

East Midlands Trains

Crosscountry trains between England and Scotland

Virgin Trains in Manchester, Chester and in Edinburgh and Glasgow

Grand Central Services.

Peterborough and London King's Cross

East Coast Trains

Merseyrail

Ferry services:

Dover - Calais. Medium 30 minutes delays

Felixstow: Severe. Container freight operations disrupted.

Shields: Severe. Suspended between North and South Shields.

Aberdeen. Severe. Disruption between to Lerwick

Mersey Ferries. Severe. Service suspended.

P&O Irish Sea. Medium. Disruption between Cairnryan and Larne and between Troon and Larne.

 Airports, Expect delays between 10 minutes and an hour:
