Miley Cyrus has toppled last year's hot search term, Kim Kardashian, to top Yahoo's 2013 searches, becoming the most-searched term overall of the year. It was one of the most eventful years for the 21-year-old pop singer. She broke-up with her fiancé, Liam Hemsworth, gave a provocative dance performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, and she released her brand new album, "Bangerz."
According to Reuters, Cyrus has generated the most overall searches on Yahoo in 2013. Vera Chan, a senior editor and Web trend analyst at Yahoo, said to Washington Post that "Miley Cyrus inspired several top searches this year."
In addition to "Miley Cyrus" being the top search-term overall, searches for "twerking" and for "Wrecking Ball," the lyrics of her hit song, also made to the top-ten in other search categories.
"She's (Miley) following our Britney Spears route," Chan said. "She's taken a very savvy approach to the transition, and there are a lot of things that people were fascinated by. That made her the most-searched person and the most-searched term."
Chan noted that Kim Kardashian also had an eventful year. This year, she finalized her divorce, gave birth to baby North West, and got engaged to Kanye West. Chan said that Kardashian's trending on Yahoo Search is similar to Paris Hilton.

Reuters reports that for a period of five months, the Arias' trial received the attention of the online searchers. Thanks to bizarre testimony and graphic, sexual evidence, the murder trial became the most searched news on Yahoo.
