"Wheel of Fortune", an American television game show, was slammed for using "The Fast and the Furious" as an answer to one of their puzzle.

According to reports, the episode that was recorded two weeks ago was shown on Monday night, just two days after Paul Walker, who featured in the street racing franchise, died in a tragic car accident.

Viewers slammed the show for its insensitivity towards including a Walker-related answer in the film title category.

The show's official Twitter account apologised for the "unfortunate coincidence" and mentioned that the episode was taped on the 4 October.

Pat Sajak, the show's host, expressed regret saying, "Feel terrible about timing of "Fast & Furious" puzzle tonight. Taped long ago & went out to 200 local stations days ago."

The show also posted a tweet to Walker's friends and family saying, "The hearts of everyone at Wheel of Fortune go out to the family, friends & fans of Paul Walker."

The 40-year-old actor was killed in a car crash on Saturday, after attending a charity event for his foundation 'Reach Out Worldwide' in California. His close friend Roger Roda, who behind the wheel at the time of the incident, also died in the crash.

Tyrese Gibson and Vin Diesel, Walker's co-stars in "The Fast and Furious", had visited the crash site to pay their respects and mourn the loss of their close friend and colleague.

The autopsies of Walker and Roda were conducted on Tuesday and the results are expected to be out soon.
