Jennifer Lawrence is awarded Best Supporting actress by the New York Film Critics Circle.

The Hunger Games star was given the award during the awarding ceremony by the NYFCC on Tuesday for the movie "American Hustle."

The movie which reunites her with Silver Linings Playbook colleagues Bradley Cooper and director David O. Russell, also got the Best Picture and Best Screenplay award from the critics' circle.

A lot of critics are looking at the award-giving body and the rest to come as a gauge for the upcoming Oscars. Since Lawrence and the film is making waves early on, buzz is already circulating that she might be getting her second Oscar in a row.

Meanwhile, Robert Redford wins the Best Actor award for the film "All is Lost" while Cate Blanchett gets the Best Actress award for "Blue Jasmine." Jared Leto gets the Best Supporting Actor award for "Dallas Buyers Club" and Steve McQueen was declared Best Director for "12 Years A Slave."

"American Hustle," which also stars Christian Bale and Amy Adams, follows a con-man and his parter as they are whisked into the world of New Jersey mafia. Lawrence plays Rosalyn, the bored wife of con-man Irvin Rosenfeld (Bale). The film is loosely based on the real-life ABSCAM which exposes several members of the Congress who are taking bribes.

The film glamorized and deglamorized its actors for their respective roles. For one, Christian Bale gained 50 pounds and grew chest hair for his role as a con man, while Bradley Cooper curled his hair. Amy Adams, on the other hand, gets the sexpot treatment with deep-V dresses that shows her cleavage.

Viewers can also expect a shock factor from the movie which opens Dec. 14, mainly from the confrontation scene between Adams and Lawrence which culminates to a kiss. Adams claims that it was her idea though she does not "take credit for a lot of things."

"Maybe I just wanted to kiss Jennifer. She's so cute!" she tells Vulture.
