Amber Riley Wins ‘DWTS’: Lea Michele And More React On Twitter [PHOTOS/ VIDEOS]
Congratulations to Glee's Amber Riley (Mercedes) for being the official champion of "Dancing With the Stars" 2013.
On Nov. 26, Tuesday night finale, Amber was crowned the winner of Season 17 trouncing Jack Osbourne and Corbin Bleu to grab the coveted mirror ball trophy. She has been leading the competition all-season long, getting persistently high scores, despite an importunate knee injury that endangered to hold her down. The judges liked her get-up-and-go attitude, her zeal and how much fun she had with every dance performance.
Amber was paired with dance pro Derek Hough, who has won many seasons in the past and he is an Emmy-winning choreographer. So his routines were always superlative. For the Nov. 27 finale show, the winning duo performed a samba and quickstep fusion. "You guys just created a whole new dance! Seamlessly and effortlessly! Well done," said Carrie Ann Inaba.
"I have never lost the thought of the joy I get from watching you. You are absolutely bedazzling. You, my little sausage, are a fantastic dancer." Len Goodman said. They scored a perfect 30. After the announcement that Amber won, she said to all of her fans, "I did this competition because I didn't know if I could do it. I want to do things that scare me. I want to let women of all sizes know, you can do whatever you put your mind to. It doesn't matter what size you are, what color you are, you can do whatever you want!"
Amber's Glee co-stars swarmed Twitter with messages of congratulations. Many close friends like Kevin McHale (Artie) especially had been tweeting all the way through the show commending every high score and persuading fans to vote for her.
Leading Lady Lea Michele promptly took to Twitter after the show to send her congrats, as did Naya Rivera, Chord Overstreet, and almost every other member on the show. Obviously, Chris Colfer, who (along with Kevin) has been one of Amber's most verbal supporters all season, sent out a message of congrats, as well. We've compiled a list of who's said what. Have a look!
