"No, Galaxy Nexus phones won't be receiving the update for Android 4.4 (KitKat). Galaxy Nexus, which first launched two years ago, falls outside of the 18-month update window when Google and others traditionally update devices," Google noted on a support page.
Though the device has got Android 4.1,4.2 and 4.3 in recent times, the elimination of Galaxy Nexus is no more than a SHOCK to them. As Galaxy Nexus had all the requirements and accessories, the device seemed all right for the update. But as a ray of hope, users can get a taste of KitKat unofficially by flashing Custom ROMs such as CyanogenMod and Paranoid Android.
To remind you, Galaxy Nexus was jointly manufactured by Samsung and Google and was branded under the former.
