"The Typing of the Dead: Overkill" is now available for Windows PC! This is good news for fans of Sega's "The House of the Dead" (HOTD) series as well as zombies, Halloween, typing and spelling enthusiasts.
Instead of shooting zombies with a gun like the original "House of the Dead" game, this one uses typing to kill the zombies. A word or phrase will appear on screen and the player must type it as fast as they can before the zombies get them.
The setting of the game is in Bayou county and the main storyline is there's an outbreak of mutant zombies in that area and it is up to the player to investigate the cause of the outbreak and survive the ordeal at the same time.
"The Typing of the Dead: Overkill" has 9 stages and 3 difficulty levels, with a special "hardcore" level and Survival Mode. It challenges typists by displaying random words and phrases such as phoenix, halitosis, binge drinking, dizzy heights and eight lives left.
Sega's PC game pack also includes a full and faithful port of the original PS3 edition of "The House of the Dead."
It can be played through a Single Player mode. But, it will have a free Downloadable Content (DLC) for the Two-Player co-op multiplayer mode which will be available soon after the game's official launch.
Fans of "The House of the Dead" games will be happy to know that the new "The Typing of the Dead: Overkill" PC game still has the same vivid graphics and engaging story as the original games. However, they might miss using a gun to shoot at the zombies. But, it's an interesting change that they can grow accustomed to. Typing game fans will definitely love it because it deviates from the usual safe and boring typing games available out there.
"The Typing of the Dead: Overkill" is now available for Windows PC and can be downloaded at the Digital Stores of Sega (click here) and Steam (click here). The video game is worth $19.99 or £14.99. It will be available with a 50 percent discount until Nov. 1, 2013.
