The third season of "Sherlock" is one of the most anticipated seasons and BBC has not yet made an announcement on when it will premiere. PBS Masterpiece, however, has announced the date on which this hugely popular drama series will premiere in the U.S.
The star-cast and executive producers have some spilled some details about the upcoming season, which promises to be "jaw dropping" and more amazing than the previous two seasons. The first two seasons have been absolute masterpieces and if "Sherlock" Season 3 turns out to be better than the two previous seasons, the long, excruciating wait will be fully rewarded. Rebecca Eaton, executive producer of Masterpiece, has called the upcoming season "best season yet of Sherlock."
The Top 3 Spoilers of "Sherlock" Season 3:
A New Villain: Lars Mikkelsen will portray the role of Charles Augustus Magnussen, the new nemesis of Sherlock. He is expected to be more sinister than Professor Moriarty who met his end in the final episode of Season 2, "The Reichenbach Fall." The new villain is based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "Sherlock Holmes" character, Charles Augustus Milverton.
Sir Doyle originally introduced the new nemesis of Sherlock in "The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton." In the short-story, Sherlock describes him as serpents in a Zoo. He says to Watson, "Do you feel a creeping, shrinking sensation, Watson when you stand before serpents in a Zoo, and see the slithery, gliding, venomous creatures, with their deadly eyes and wicked, flattened faces? Well, that's how Milverton impresses me."
The Unhappy Reunion: Sherlock had faked his death in "The Reichenbach Fall." In the premiere episode of Season 3, Sherlock will be back at the Baker Street and will reveal how he faked his death. However, the reunion between Sherlock and Watson will not be a happy one. Benedict Cumberbatch had said to The Guardian: "Well, there's a reunion that doesn't necessarily go to plan. And there's a bonding experience that throws Sherlock and Watson back together in a very firm way."
A Wedding: Watson will marry Mary Morstan (Amanda Abbington) in "Sherlock" 3. Amanda had said to The Scotsman that her character will become the "third wheel" in the relationship between Sherlock and Watson.
