Katy Perry has continued to make the headlines during her stay Down Under. John Meyer’s sweetheart shines at the Sydney Opera House and has been snapped enjoying the site. But what could be equally exciting for the “Fireworks” singer is being recognized for her craft.
The news Web site noted that Perry’s hit song, “Roar,” now stays on top of the ARIA singles chart for nine long weeks. She has outnumbered Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” which stayed on top for eight weeks.
This is one good feat for Perry who even outranked Adele’s “Someone Like You.” The English songstress hit song nabbed the top slot on ARIA chart for seven weeks in June 2011. The SMH noted that the last artist to hold the longest record on ARIA’s singles chart was Kesha for her hit song, “Tik Tok,” released in 2009.
The record also means that Katy is the first female artist to hold the title with the longest run in ARIA’s singles chart for women this decade.
Meanwhile, Billboard noted last week that there’s a big chance Perry may also overtake Miley’s 270,000 copies sold for her album, “Bangerz.” Citing data from AC Nielsen, Billboard noted that Perry is like to sell 275,000 copies of her album, “Prism,” during its first week of sale since it was released last week.
