Kolo Toure says he wants to prove to Arsenal that they made a mistake by letting him leave the club in 2009 when Liverpool take on the Gunners this weekend.
Toure made the move to Merseyside from Manchester City in the most recent summer as Brendan Rodgers looked to replace the experience and leadership skills of the retiring Jamie Carragher.
He has so far proven to be a good purchase for the club having helped them to third place in the Premier League table and giving fans hope that Liverpool are back in track to challenge for trophies again in the coming seasons.
And with the Reds set for a particularly tough match-up with table leaders Arsenal on Saturday Toure admits he has extra motivation to do well and is hoping to show Arsene Wenger what he's missing.
"It is where I started playing football," he said, according to the Daily Mail. "They gave me a chance to come here (to England). It is always special playing against them but at the same time I want to show them they made a mistake in letting me go.
"I think it is going to be a great game for me. It is always a great time for me when I play against the club I used to play for.
"I will try my best to show them I am a great player - but for my team first as that is most important."
Liverpool have lost just one of their opening nine league games while Arsenal have an indentical record. But the Gunners have lost their last two big matches, the first against Borussia Dortmund and most recently against Chelsea in the League Cup and Rodgers' men are hoping to capitalise on their recent top form which saw them win 4-1 over West Bromwich Albion at the weekend.
