Heartthrob trio Jonas Brothers are reportedly breaking up "for now," weeks after they canceled their tour because of "deep rifts" between the boy band. Reports claimed they decided unanimously to split after a meeting early October. The group's career skyrocketed five years ago with Disney movies and TV shows.
"It's over for now," Kevin Jonas said to People magazine. His brother Nick added, "It's really hard to say forever. We're closing a chapter, for sure." Nick Jonas felt worried about the group's future and trapped that he had to open up to his brothers.
Reports said there was a big music direction disagreement that caused a deep rift between them. Jonas Brothers canceled a 19-date comeback tour.
An official announcement said Kevin, 25, Joe, 24 and Nick, 21 now plan to focus on different things. Joe wants to do art, acting and his own music and is very passionate in his own set of goals.
Despite rumors about his substance abuse, he is reportedly fine. Kevin wants to focus on fatherhood with his wife, Danielle, and has changed his priorities. Nick wants to focus on Broadway and music. He previously took part in the Broadway revival of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying in 2012." They have different aspirations now and have changed over the years.
The brothers have been working on individual projects over the past few years. Nick asked their fans on Twitter to bear with them and be patient as they try to work out their differences while Joe tweeted and asked them to "please hold while we get our sh*t together (sic)"
The sibling trio from New Jersey released their first well-received album in August 2006 but their career really set off with the Disney film "Camp Rock" in 2008, which was followed by a sequel two years after. They were also given their own Disney Channel TV series.
The Jonas Brothers have sold over 20 million records worldwide and were nominated in the 2008 Grammy Awards for Best New Artist. They made it to the Guinness Book of Records for the most singles to enter the top 20 U.S. charts in a year, with five in 2009 and have won almost 50 awards worldwide, including an American Music Award.
