Samsung's water and dust resistance handset, the Galaxy S4 Active, which was unveiled in June this year, is just a few months old. Now it appears that the company is planning for a compact version of the handset.
The Galaxy S4 Active Mini GT-I8580 appears at FCC
The mini version of the Galaxy S4 Active, dubbed as Galaxy S4 Active Mini, reportedly bears the model number GT-I8580 and offers identical build quality like its 5in counterpart. There is no official word so far on the device, but a new disclosure by PhoneArena now claims that the official announcement of the device might be nearing.

The Galaxy S4 Active Mini GT-I8580 has recently made an appearance at the FCC (Federal Communications Commission). The FCC filing does not reveal much but indicates that the device is likely to release through US carrier as well. The filing also suggests the handset supports GSM networks on the 850/1900MHz, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Additionally, a fresh batch of photos of the purported Galaxy S4 Active Mini has been published by Tenaa, which is a FCC like telecommunication regulatory authority in China.

Meanwhile, GFXBench has posted system database listing for the Samsung GT-I8580&testgroup=system" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">GT-I8580, which reveals most of the technical features of the Galaxy S4 Active. According to the listing, the GT-I8580 is expected to run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. It will be powered by a Snapdragon 400 chip featuring a dual-core processor, running at clock speeds up to 1.2GHz, while paired with Adreno 305 graphics. Also, dual-core processor integrates 1GB of RAM.
It will feature a display of 4.65in with resolution measuring 800 x 480 pixels, giving it a pixel density of 200 pixels per inch (ppi). It will have a five megapixel rear-camera and a 0.3 megapixel front-camera. Besides, the GT-I8580 has also received its Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) certification.
