Sony just revealed their Xperia Z1F. The device is like a more compact size of the Xperia Z1 handset. Reports say the Japanese tech giant is working on another two Android-based smartphones. The Sony Xperia Z1S and Tianchi are slated for release this coming November 12.
The Sony Xperia Tianchi will be available as a budget handset. Nonetheless, despite the reported affordable value, reports say the device is an absolute monster assuming the specs were real. Then there is the Z1 spinoff, the Z1S.
As mentioned, the Tianchi will be available for an affordable price but Sony is not compromising the specs. The device will run on an eight-core processor. Octa-processors are often found on high-end mobile phones but Sony is changing the game with Tianchi. Nonetheless, many analysts wonder how can Sony afford an eight-core processor for a price?
The company will reportedly use a MediaTek over a Qualcomm chipset. MediaTek charges considerably less so Sony can keep the price down despite the high-capacity chip. Under the hood, the Sony Tianchi will run on what it claims as a "true octa-core chip" clocked at 2GHz MT6592.
This allows all eight low-power Cortex-A7 cores to work simultaneously. Sony assures people can accomplish whatever task they need to do with the chipset. Other reported features include 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and 6-inch screen. These are pretty good deals - considering the company is gunning to release a budget handset.
Sony Xperia Z1S
As for the Xperia Z1S, reports stay the device will feature a 4.3-inch display with 720p screen. It will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. The specs are almost similar to the Z1F. The Z1F was just announced in Japan. Some sources say the Z1s may be what the company refers to as the Z1F in China. People will have to wait for official confirmation.
Sony's event on November 12 will reportedly take place in Shanghai. There are no clear details yet if the handsets will only ship in China or if it will be the first leg of releases. Nonetheless, it will certainly boost Sony's position even more if it can ship a budget phone with premium features to stores across the globe.
Sony has proven capable of rivaling smartphone manufacturers like Apple and Samsung with their Xperia Z line. A budget phone with similar features can be a ticket to success once more.
