Arsenal sent scouts to Fiorentina's most recent match with Chievo to keep an extra close eye on Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, according to reports in Italy.
Cuadrado made the move to Fiorentina earlier this summer after completing a successful loan spell with the Italian side and his good form with the club has continued, having scored three goals in his last two matches.
The Colombia international is believed to be on Arsenal's radar for a possible January swoop and TuttoMercatoWeb are reporting that the Gunners had scouts present at his most recent showing to see how he would fit into the current line-up.
And the scouts would certainly have been impressed by Cuadrado's skills, with the 25-year-old winger scoring a brace to help his side to a 2-1 win over Chievo to push them up to fifth place in the Serie A table.
After the match, Cardrado told reporters he was unaware that Arsenal scouts were present and left the door open to a possible move in the future.
"I didn't know, I learned from you," he said when asked about the scouts. "It's something that pleases me, but I'm happy here at Fiorentina... we'll see."
Arsenal are set to make some more big purchases in the winter transfer window on the back of smashing their record to land Mesut Ozil on the most recent deadline day.
The German midfielder has been the spark the Gunners needed to buck a recent trend in starting seasons poorly with the side currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table after nine games.
And with Arsenal having admitted that they now have a lot more money at their disposal as their stadium debts are largely reduced, the side will certainly be in the market for more attacking players like Cuadrado as Wenger looks to improve the depth of the squad.
