Are you puzzled upon seeing pictures of giraffes all over your Facebook wall? Well, here is why:
"3:00 am, the doorbell rings and you wake up. Unexpected visitors. It's your parents and they are there for breakfast. You have strawberry jam, honey, wine, bread and cheese. What is the first thing you open?"
This is the riddle doing the rounds on the social media site, Facebook, where the user must answer this riddle correctly or else replace his or her default profile picture to that of a Giraffe.
This Facebook quiz has been gaining popularity since 5th October 2013, and has received mixed responses from online users. While some question the challenge in this game when one can easily get the answer from Google, there are others who feel that it is good to be part of a collective fun activity like this.
In 2010, a similar trend was noticed on Facebook where users changed their profile picture to their favorite cartoon character, which was later revealed to be part of a protest to support children.
Over time, changing the profile picture on Facebook, and sometimes the cover image, has become an unspoken understanding among netizens to show support or promote a cause or matter of concern. This form of social media activism is known as pictivism.
However, this giraffe viral riddle is not associated with any particular cause.
