New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and his wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, are now reportedly living the high life -- literally -- as they reportedly bought a condominium unit at one of New York's poshest addresses.
Skyscrapers are seen in New York's Manhattan August 24, 2011.
The building, One Madison Park, is located along East 22nd Street, overlooking Madison Square Park, and located in the middle of Manhattan's Flatiron District where many ad agencies have established their headquarters. The building, topping out at 188.22 meters, has 50 floors containing 91 units, including two townhouses. It was designed by architectural firm Cetra/Ruddy and has been celebrated as one of the city's most exciting skyscrapers by critics -- not bad for a street that also hosts the iconic Metropolitan Life Tower. The construction of the building ran into some financial difficulties, culminating in its declaring for bankruptcy in June 2010. In 2012, the Related Companies took over the high-rise, finishing its construction and re-drawing the floor plans of some of the units.
Prices in One Madison Park range from $1.825 million for the building's only studio to $50 million for a triplex townhouse with five bedrooms. The Brady-Bundchen couple purchased a three-bedroom unit that occupies the whole of the 47th floor. Apparently, it was also the model unit featured in marketing collaterals for the building, and features views of the Hudson River and the Madison Square Park, thanks to its floor-to-ceiling windows.
Inside, it will be just as palatial as it looks on the outside, as the model unit was reportedly decorated by celebrity Danish designer Thomas Juul-Hansen. It features oversized doors, perfect for a sports hero of Brady's stature, solid white oak floors and separate walk-in closets for the two.
This new home will not be the couple's first in New York City as Bundchen formerly owned a triplex unit valued at $4.4 million and Brady sold his condo for $17.5 million. The unit at One Madison Park will be the third home for the couple and their children, Vivian, Benjamin and John. The Brady-Bundchens have an eco-friendly home in Brentwood, California, valued at $20 million, and are building a mansion right outside Boston, where the star quarterback plies his trade.
