Qualcomm wanted to exhibit the power of their Snapdragon processors so the chipset manufacturing giant used 130 units of the HTC One smartphone to create the ultimate photo booth. The Snapdragon Booth is basically a bullet-time rig that the HTC Ones with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor power up.
The 130 HTC One smarphones were put together on a spiral rig that made it possible to capture images in a 540-degree arc. However, Qualcomm did not identify how the HTC One smartphones were set to shoot in a synchronized fashion with all of the cameras capturing at once the same subject at the center from every possible angle.
The image results were impressive which reminded the people of the scenes in the successful Keanu Reeves film "The Matrix." A video has been posted on YouTube titled "The Ultimate Smartphone Phonebooth" that shows what the Snapdragon processor can do when it comes to imaging.
"Although we can't help but think it would have been useful to be able to set each phone's exposure manually, as the automatic exposures do shift quite a lot when the angle of light changes," the Cnet Australia report reads.
The HTC camera arrangement that covers 540 degrees was set up at Venice Beach the Qualcomm asked the people to show what they love to do. The end result with the images combined together yields a very smooth animated GIF that can simulate movements around the subject located at the center of the rig.
"It's not perfect as a better camera array would have produced higher quality GIFs but it's neat nevertheless," the TechSpot report reads. The HTC One smartphone features and specs include a 4.7-inch Super LCD3 Full HD screen display with 1920 x 1080p resolution, the power of a 1.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 2 300mAh battery, a 4 MP UltraPixel rear-facing camera with the Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), 2.1 MP front-facing camera, support for the 4G LTE network and the availability of non-expandable internal storage capacities that consumers can choose from: 32 GB or 64 GB.
