Apple unveiled the new OS X Mavericks that allows consumers to upgrade their laptops for free.
Apple said that the new Mac OS reduces the CPU usage by 72 percent as well as enhances the battery life of the device. Another great feature of the OS X Mavericks is its new security feature for apps and browser plug-ins.
The OS Mavericks also has the new Tags feature that allows users to organize files in a way that is consistent across Macs or iOS devices. Moreover, software updates can optionally run in the background in the new Mac OS. Users just need to click the notification button to allow automatic installation.
Moreover, some of the unique iOS features made a jump to the Mac OS like iBooks and Apple Maps. Also, old apps such as Calendar and Safari will be improved. Safari received a new design and boosted speed.
Some of the system tools are also improved, including multiple display support, notifications, the Finder and Keychain password management, which now can sync among all your Mac and iOS devices.
Some reviewers reported enhanced performance upon the installation of OS X Mavericks, even when running full-sized applications. Also, it has more free disk space and more available memory.
To the surprise of the many, the OS X Mavericks update is offered for free by Apple. Last year, Apple offered the OS X Mountain Lion update for $20 and the previous OS for $30. It seems that Apple is taking a jab against rival Microsoft after it offered the Windows 8.1 update for free.
The tech giant announced the new Mac OS alongside the new MacBooks boasting the latest Haswell processor in the recent Apple event.
Apple just showed off the new thinner models both with 13- and 15- inch displays. Apple slashed the price of the laptops with Retina display and offered the 13-inch MacBook Pro 2013 for $1,299 replacing the non-Retina MacBook Pro. It features 2.4 GHz Core i5 processor, 4 GB RAM and 128 GB SSD. The 15-inch Apple laptop costs $1,999 with quad-core i7, 8 GB RAM and 256 SSD. Apple improved the battery life of the new MacBook Pro to have up to 9 hours with extensive use.
