Paris Saint Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot has hinted he will not wait around for first team opportunities if they are not forthcoming, amid growing interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.
The 18-year-old has made eight appearances for the Parisian giants this season, the majority of which have come from the bench late on after being handed his first team debut by former manager Carlo Ancelotti last season before a loan spell with Toulouse.
With PSG's midfield already bustling with Marco Verratti, Blaise Matuidi, Lucas Moura and Thiago Motta, Rabiot is conscious of the fact consistent first team football opportunities could be difficult to come by during certain points of the season.
Having seen a similar situation unfold following the signings of defenders Thiago Silva and Marquinhos, Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho reluctantly left PSG this summer amid such concerns, and Rabiot has vowed to not wait as long as his former teammate should he find himself in a similar situation.
When asked of the importance of being a club trained player at PSG, he told Le Parisien: "I know it is important to the leaders and supporters. But that's not enough. If it is to be set aside on the day where others players are recruited in my position, it is not worth it.
"I do not want to live the way Mamadou Sakho did. After a while, when he realised he would not play much, he took the decision to leave and he did well. "
Sakho emerged from PSG's youth ranks at the tender age of 17, going on to become the youngest ever captain in the history of the club.
But following the club's period of substantial investment in recent years the France international saw his first team opportunities dwindle, forcing him to consider other options with next summer's World Cup in mind.
Having seen his former teammate squeezed out, Raboit insists he will have to consider future at the club in the coming months, if the club were to enlist the services of another midfielder.
"But if a new midfielder is recruited in the winter transfer window, it will change the game for me," he added. "I would then think about my future."
