Arsene Wenger has stated on Monday that Mathieu Flamini will sit out Arsenal's anticipated clash against the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League runner-up Borussia Dortmund because of recovery issues.
“We all fear the worst!” - Arsene Wenger
"He is doing well. He has practised normally but we will not play him because there is a five-day rule that we will respect," Wenger told arsenal.com
"We will not to take any chances. It was a concussion and the doctor advised us not to play him. He will be OK for the weekend."
When asked whether there will be changes made to the squad, he answered: "A little bit yes, certainly, but I leave myself 24 hours until tomorrow [Tuesday] afternoon to decide that."
On the lighter side of things, Wenger could not help but be comical about the impending release of Sir Alex Fergusson's autobiography.
"We all fear the worst!" he answered, when asked of what he was anticipating of Ferguson's book.
"I think it is good that he makes a book. Maybe he does not have enough time to think about his whole career, it is a bit short between the moment he stopped and the moment he brings his book out."
"But maybe there are some other books coming later, so if is an autobiography there could be two, three or four [versions] of it. I don't know."
He also commented on the notion that Ferguson's presence and influence at Manchester United, in a different capacity, is creating negative effects.
"No, you do not want his personality to be a handicap for the club, you want him to be remembered as someone who has done extremely well for the club."
