Pokemon X & Y includes a cool feature called the Super Training system which uses the touch screen of a Nintendo 3DS to train Pokemon characters. Get ready for some highly trained Pokemon to fight against other players for better chances of winning in the game.
According to IGN, the Pokemon X & Y Super Training system will be available at all times and can be done outside of battle. It can be found on the bottom screen next to the Pokemon-Amie and Player Search System screens. To choose through the options, just click on the arrows.
This is a welcome addition to the Pokemon game because before, it was difficult to train Pokemon. Players don't have this option and what they do instead is to just level up in an area. But, this method will only give a few Effort Values to the Pokemon being trained.
What are Effort Values?
Effort values are hidden stat values that increase the Base Stats of a Pokemon.
It allows Pokemon X & Y players to view their Pokemon's Base Stats. It also allows players to check out the progress of the super training based on the increase of stats
It is color-coded with green showing the character's original Base Stats and the yellow-green (on the outer part) showing the increase in the stats.
What's great about this Effort-O-Meter is that players can also view how many Effort Value Points are assigned to each stat.
EFFORT VALUE POINTS (EV):
EV Points Earned
4 Effort Value Points to a Base Stat
8 Effort Value Points to a Base Stat
12 Effort Value Points to a Base Stat
Super Training Regimens:
These are mini-games used for training Pokemon.
Pokemon characters that want to undergo the Super Training Regimens will begin 2 tutorial mini-games to boost their defense stat.
After completing the tutorial mini-games, they can move on to the other six mini-games. Each of these games specializes in honing Base Stats such as Attack, Special Attack, Defense, Special Defense, Speed and Hit Points (HP).
Unlock the next level of regimens by completing the 6 six regimens. Each level increases in difficulty and awards more Effort Value points to a base stat.
Super Training Regimens Rules:
1. Using soccer balls, earn enough points by shooting at the white goals on the balloon bot located in the middle of the field.
2. Reach the set score before the time runs out.
There are 2 goals, the white goal and the red goal. The white goal will disappear once it is hit by a ball. The red ball may appear on the ballon bot for a short time but it will not disappear after being hit. It can also be shot several times for extra points.
How to Play:
1. To move up, down, right and left, use the Circle Pad.
2. To move closer or further away from the balloon bots, use the D-Pad's Up and Down buttons.
3. To form a barrier for a short period of time, use the L button.
4. To fire balls at balloon bots, use the stylus to tap the lower screen.
These shots are worth Triple points compared to normal shots. Hold the stylus on the bottom screen until the Pokemon glows to use charged shots in attacking enemies, but don't hold the stylus too long because the charged shot will disappear.
TIP: Save it for RED GOALS
BALLOON BOTS DEFENSE MECHANISM and TIPS to AVOID THEM:
Destroy 3 balloons in front of balloon bots first, then shoot the balloon bot.
To avoid tall and thin soccer balls, move left or right. To avoid short and flat balls, move up or down.
If this is up, a Pokemon cannot hit any of the goals on the bot. Hit the moving target to bring down entire barrier.
Aside from Effort Value points, training bags will be given for completing or failing at a super training regimen.
These are punching bags that can be hit to add more Effort Value pointsto Base Stats
The bigger the bag, the more points it will give. But, it will take much longer to break the bag and earn points.
If a Pokemon fails a regimen, another type of training bag will be given to them to help with their next regimen.
Whew! That's a lot of training talk! It's not called the Pokemon X & Y Super Training System for nothing. Have fun super training Pokemon X & Y characters! And let the games truly begin.
