iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 may not pack Touch ID fingerprint sensor and gold casing, according to an analyst.
Reliable Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo of KGI Securities predicted that the new iPad line may not include some of the new features of the iPhone 5S which was revealed last month. Kuo said that the production of fingerprint sensor and gold casing is dedicated to the said handset.
It seems that the features will take quite some time in the production line. Moreover, there are reports claiming that iPhone 5S has a restrained supply due to production of the device, which is a probable reason why it will be missing in action in the upcoming Apple event.
Last month, Chinese Web site Pad Zol published some photos of gold iPad Mini with Touch ID fingerprint sensor that started the rumours the device will pack such features.
According to the Kuo, iPad 5 will be 20% lighter and thinner than its predecessor to replace the thick and heavy iPad 4. The full-fledged tablet will also have a narrow bezel like the iPad Mini. iPad 5 will be powered by the new 64-bit A7X processor. It is most likely that the tablet will retain its 128GB internal storage.
The iPad Mini 2 will keep its 7.9 inches screen size but will be equipped with retina display with 2048x1536 pixel resolution, which is claimed to be at par with the screen resolution of Nexus 7 2. The miniature iPad will pack A7 chip processor.
Both tablets will be equipped with 8 megapixels rear camera.
Apple will hold an invitation-only event on October 22 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in California. Reports speculated that the Cupertino-based company will unveil the new iPad line, Mac Pro and MacBook Pro with Haswell processor at the said event.
The press invite bears the tagline "We still have a lot to cover" embedded with multi-coloured leaved just like the iPhone 5S, 5C invitation. This provided a hint that Apple will reveal various devices on the said date. However, Apple has not disclosed the details of the event to surprise waiting fans.
